      PREPARATION

      Before the operation, there are several pre-operative examinations. First thing is physical examination and consultation with the surgeon. Before the pre-operative examination start, it is important to learn patient medical history (anamnesis). The following pre-operative tests will be ECG (Electrocardiography), Blood Tests, X-Ray, Cardiovascular examination and anesthesiologist examination.       ANESTHESIA

      The hip replacement operation can be performed under the epidural (spianal) anesthesia which is the lower part of the body is numbed or general anesthesia which is the makes muscles relaxed and cause the deep sleep during the operation.

      OPERATION

      After the anesthesia is given, the surgeon makes incision above the hip side approximately 2- to 5- inch lenght. Surgeons insert a stem into the patient’s femur or thighbone. They replace the head of the femur with a ball and the natural seat in the hip joint with an artificial cup. Then the surgeon insert the drainage to drain fluid accummulation. Lastly, the incision areas are stitched.
