      INGUINAL HERNIA REPAIR TECHNIQUE

      Depending on the size of the hernia, the surgery is performed laparoscopically or openly.
      In the laparoscopic method, the inguinal area is entered through 3 or 4 small incisions. Laparoscopic surgery materials are placed through this incision. First, tears and muscle weaknesses in the inguinal are repaired and the swollen part is either removed or replaced. A surgical mesh is then placed on the inguinal area to prevent recurrence of hernia. After all procedures are completed, the incisions are stitched and the surgery is completed.
      Open surgery method is generally preferred for large inguinal hernias. The surgery begins by making an incision of 6 to 7 cm in the inguinal area. In this operation, the same methods as in laparoscopy are applied. First, weakened and torn muscle and ligament tissues are repaired and stitched. Then, a surgical mesh is placed in the inguinal area to prevent hernia formation. After the procedures are completed, the incisions are stitched and the surgery is terminated.
